About Potawatomi Hotel & Casino
Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, formerly known as Potawatomi Bingo Casino, opened in 1991 at 1721 W Canal Street on the Menomonee River Valley in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The property is owned and operated by the Forest County Potawatomi Community and runs under the Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Gaming. With 2,500 slot machines, 99 table games, a 20-table poker room, on-site sportsbook, bingo, and a connected hotel, it is the largest gaming property in the state and one of the largest casino resorts in the Upper Midwest.
The minimum gambling age is 21 and gaming runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The casino sits in the Menomonee Valley a few minutes west of downtown, an easy walk or shuttle from American Family Field on Brewers game days. Its scale and depth of game variety make it the default gaming destination for the Milwaukee, southern Wisconsin, and Chicago northern-suburb audience.

Games on the Floor
The Potawatomi gaming floor reads like a Las Vegas Strip casino dropped into a Wisconsin tribal compact. Slot machines (2,500 of them) anchor the largest area, spanning penny and nickel reels through high-limit video poker. Table games include blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat, mini-baccarat, and a long carnival pit: 3 Card Poker, Four Card Poker, Fortune Pai Gow Poker, Spanish 21, Let it Ride, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Casino War, and Big 6. Bingo continues to run in the property’s bingo hall, a nod to its history before the table-game expansion.
For players coming from other Wisconsin gaming venues, this is the deepest pit in the state. The closest table-game variety on the Wisconsin casinos map is at the Ho-Chunk and Oneida flagships, but neither carries the carnival-game density that Potawatomi spreads. Visitors arriving from elsewhere in the Midwest can find a useful comparison in our Milwaukee casinos directory.

Poker Room and Sportsbook
The 20-table poker room is one of the property’s signature draws and the headline reason regional poker players make the drive from Madison, Chicago’s North Shore, and Green Bay. The room runs No Limit Hold’em cash games at multiple stake levels, Pot Limit Omaha, Limit Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Lo, and 7-Card Stud spreads when demand calls for it. The tournament calendar runs daily, with weekly featured events and periodic larger guarantees. The room earns its size: on a Friday or Saturday night, multiple lists run with active interest.
The on-site sportsbook spreads major US sports, props, and futures, with simulcast and off-track betting running alongside in the same wagering area. Wisconsin sportsbook activity sits under tribal authority and is offered in-person on tribal property rather than statewide on mobile, so this room is the regional destination for retail sports betting alongside other Wisconsin tribal sportsbooks.
Hotel and Amenities
The attached hotel sits next to the casino and turns the property into a true resort. The connected layout means a player can move between hotel room, restaurants, spa, salon, and the gaming floor without going outside, which matters in a Milwaukee winter. Valet and self-parking are both offered. Multiple restaurant concepts run inside the resort: a steakhouse, a casual buffet line, and quick-service options to cover late-night sessions. The casino is smoke-free across the gaming floor, a meaningful comfort feature for daily players. Meeting and event space accommodates conferences and weddings, and the property maintains a wedding program tied to the resort.

The state's flagship, and an honest resort
Potawatomi Hotel & Casino is the only Wisconsin venue that consistently competes with the major Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan riverboat and tribal resorts in floor size, game depth, and integrated hotel experience. The 20-table poker room is the regional draw and the carnival pit is the deepest in the state. The trade-off is the urban setting (less of a destination feel than a Wisconsin Dells resort) and Friday-night crowding. If you want a one-property weekend in Wisconsin, this is the room that earns the booking.
Location and Regulation
The casino sits in the Menomonee Valley at 1721 W Canal Street, a quick exit from I-94 and within walking distance of American Family Field. Downtown Milwaukee is a five-minute drive east. The Forest County Potawatomi Community operates the property under a compact with the State of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Gaming oversees compliance. Sportsbook and pari-mutuel wagering are legal under tribal authority on property.
For Chicago-area visitors, the casino is roughly 90 minutes north of the Loop on I-94, often shorter than a drive to many Illinois riverboats. Contact for reservations and player services runs through 800-729-7244 and the property maintains active accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn for promotions and concert announcements.

- Full carnival-game pit: 3 Card Poker, Four Card Poker, Fortune Pai Gow, Spanish 21, Let it Ride, Ultimate Texas Hold'em

Watch-outs

- Urban setting; less of a resort-destination feel than Wisconsin Dells
- Table minimums climb sharply on peak nights and event weekends
The only real poker room in the state
I have played poker rooms across the Midwest and the Potawatomi pit holds up against any of them. 20 tables, multiple cash levels of 1/2 and 2/5 No Limit running on weeknights, plus PLO when there is demand. Tournament calendar is good. Sportsbook is convenient on football Sundays. Booked the attached hotel for a Brewers weekend and the walk from room to the floor is as easy as it gets. Carnival pit is the deepest I have seen outside Vegas. Spanish 21 and Fortune Pai Gow both run live. Only knock is Friday after 8 PM gets crowded.
