About Grindstone Creek Casino
Grindstone Creek Casino is a small tribal gaming venue at 13394 W Trepania Rd in Hayward, Wisconsin, operated by the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. The property is part of the broader Lac Courte Oreilles gaming presence in Sawyer County and runs as a compact community-scale casino rather than a destination floor. Gaming is regulated under the Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Gaming framework that governs tribal-state compacts in the state, with a minimum gambling age of 21.
Hayward sits in northwestern Wisconsin, well known for the Birkebeiner ski race and the Lac Courte Oreilles reservation that surrounds Grindstone Lake. Within the Wisconsin tribal casinos map this is one of the smaller properties, oriented to local play rather than to weekend tourists. Public directory data on Grindstone Creek is limited, which is reflected in our low data confidence rating, so confirm specifics with the property before driving in.

Games on the Floor
The published game mix at Grindstone Creek Casino is concentrated on electronic play: 86 gaming machines split across slot machines and video poker terminals. There are no live table games or live poker rooms listed for this venue. The small floor count keeps the room intimate and approachable, especially compared with the larger Ho-Chunk and St. Croix properties elsewhere in the state.

Amenities and Visit Practicalities
The amenity stack at Grindstone Creek is short: an on-site restaurant and free self-parking. There is no on-site hotel, no spa, and no separate entertainment venue advertised in our directory. Most visitors who want overnight lodging stay in Hayward proper, where motel options sit along US-63 within a short drive. As with many small Wisconsin tribal venues, the published hours are not consistently surfaced, so calling ahead is the safe move before a trip.

A small Lac Courte Oreilles room for Sawyer County regulars
Grindstone Creek Casino is a community-scale Wisconsin tribal venue: 86 machines, video poker, an on-site restaurant, and not much else by way of published amenity data. For Hayward and Sawyer County regulars it is a perfectly reasonable evening stop. For visitors driving in from outside the area, plan to call ahead to confirm hours and what is actually running on the day of your trip, since public information on this property is limited.
Location and Regulation
The casino sits at 13394 W Trepania Rd in Hayward with GPS coordinates of 45.944, -91.360, on Lac Courte Oreilles reservation lands. The Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Gaming oversees the Lac Courte Oreilles Band compact with the state. Sports wagering is legal at the tribal-compact level in Wisconsin but is not offered at this venue.

Grindstone Creek Casino at a glance
Strengths and gaps based on directory data, not a substitute for a visit.
Strengths
4- Operated by the Lac Courte Oreilles Band on reservation lands
- Compact 86-machine floor with both slots and video poker
- On-site restaurant and free self-parking
- Lower-traffic alternative to larger Wisconsin tribal floors
Watch-outs
4- No live table games or poker room
- No on-site hotel; lodge in Hayward proper
- Limited published data; hours and details require a phone confirmation
- Smaller game variety than nearby St. Croix Casino Danbury
Quiet local room
Stopped in for a couple of hours on a Friday. Small floor, friendly staff, no crowds. Played video poker, broke even. The on-site restaurant was fine for what it is. If you want a big night out drive to Danbury or Lac du Flambeau instead. If you live in Hayward and want a quick session this works.
