About Legendary Waters Resort & Casino
Legendary Waters Resort & Casino opened in 2001 at 37600 Onigamiing Drive in Bayfield, Wisconsin, set on the Red Cliff Reservation along the Lake Superior shoreline at the tip of the Bayfield Peninsula. The property is owned and operated by the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, with gaming regulated by the Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Gaming. The casino runs 24/7 with a minimum age of 21 and carries the dual classification as a casino and a resort.
Among Wisconsin tribal casinos, Legendary Waters has a setting that none of the inland properties can match. Bayfield is the jumping-off point for the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, and the resort sits within walking distance of the lake itself. The 300-machine slot floor and 8-table pit are not large by Milwaukee or Wisconsin Dells standards, but the location is the product as much as the gaming floor is.

Games on the Floor
The 8-table pit at Legendary Waters runs a focused blackjack-first lineup, with blackjack pitch (a hand-dealt double-deck variant) alongside standard blackjack, 21+3 side bets, and a 2-table poker room running No-Limit Texas Hold’em. Bingo runs on a published schedule, and the slot floor carries 300 reel and video machines. There is no craps and no roulette on the floor, which is in line with the smaller scale of the property and the Lake Superior-region tribal model.

Resort Setting and Amenities
The amenity stack at Legendary Waters reads short on paper but plays bigger thanks to the location. The property includes a pool, an on-site restaurant, retail shops, RV parking, and free self-parking, plus marina access to Lake Superior. The resort designation is earned by the combined lodging, dining, and lake-access setup rather than by any single luxury anchor. For visitors using Bayfield as a base for the Apostle Islands, the property handles overnight stays and 24/7 dining without forcing a drive back into town.

The most scenic casino in Wisconsin
Legendary Waters Resort & Casino is the only Wisconsin tribal gaming property where the view out the windows competes with the floor for attention. Eight tables and 300 slots will not satisfy a serious table-game player, but the blackjack pitch tables, the small No-Limit Hold'em room, and the Lake Superior setting combine into one of the more distinctive gambling weekends in the Upper Midwest. Pair it with Apostle Islands ferry tickets and the trip writes itself.
Location and Regulation
The casino sits at 37600 Onigamiing Drive in Bayfield on the Red Cliff Reservation. The drive runs roughly 25 minutes north of Ashland and about an hour and 15 minutes east of Duluth. The Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Gaming licenses the operation under the Red Cliff Band compact, and sportsbook activity is legal under the tribal framework though not currently offered on this property.

Best view from any blackjack table in the state
Booked a three-day Apostle Islands trip and used Legendary Waters as the basecamp. Took the ferry to Madeline Island during the day, played blackjack pitch in the evenings. Floor is small but the dealer was sharp and the No-Limit Hold'em game had real players. Restaurant on site at 11 PM was a lifesaver. Drive from Minneapolis is long but the destination is worth it.
