The property is owned and operated by the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, regulated by the Washington State Gambling Commission, and runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With 2,500 gaming machines, 75 table games, a 20-table poker room, a retail sportsbook, and a full entertainment and meeting campus, it is the largest single-floor gaming venue in the Pacific Northwest and the nearest tribal casino to Portland, Oregon, just 25 minutes north on I-5.
The minimum gambling age is 18. The property sits inside a steadily expanding mixed-use development, including the Cowlitz Crossing area with retail and dining, and remains the regional headline destination for visitors looking at the Washington casinos directory from the Portland metro.

Games on the Floor
The gaming floor at ilani reads like a Las Vegas resort dropped onto a Cowlitz trust parcel. Slot machines (2,500 of them) span penny reels through high-limit video poker, with the high-limit room sitting at the back of the floor for quieter play. The 75-table pit covers Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Midi-Baccarat, Spanish 21, Pai Gow Poker, 3 Card Poker, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em.
For visitors weighing the trip from Portland against Oregon options or other Washington venues, the closest peer comparisons sit in the La Center casinos and broader tribal casinos directories.
Game spread at ilani
The 24/7 floor covers slots, a deep table pit, a 20-table poker room, and a retail sportsbook.
75 dealt tables, the deepest pit in the Pacific Northwest.
Three-card and Ultimate Texas Hold'em complete the carnival pit.
20 dedicated poker tables, largest dealt room in WA outside the Seattle metro.
2,500 machines and a retail sportsbook.

Poker Room and Sportsbook
The 20-table poker room is one of the property’s signature draws, particularly for Portland metro players who cannot find a comparable live room in Oregon. Texas Hold’em is the headline game across cash and tournament play, with the daily schedule rotating through buy-in levels. The room runs cleanly and the cash list moves at a healthy clip on Friday and Saturday nights.
The retail sportsbook sits on the gaming floor with a wall of screens and a dedicated wagering counter. Washington authorizes sports betting on tribal property only, so this is the regional in-person sportsbook for the Portland-Vancouver-Longview audience.
Dining, Entertainment, and Meeting Space
The property layers a full entertainment campus on top of the gaming floor. The ilani Cowlitz Ballroom hosts national headliner concerts and ticketed events, with a calendar that runs through country, classic rock, comedy, and Latin acts. Dining covers a steakhouse, a Northwest-leaning marketplace, a noodle bar, and quick-service counters. Meeting and event space is sized for regional conferences and weddings. Valet and self-parking are both available, and the resort is family-accessible in non-gaming areas.

The regional flagship for Portland and southwest Washington
ilani Casino Resort is the only Pacific Northwest property that consistently competes with a mid-tier Las Vegas Strip floor in slot count, table-pit depth, poker room scale, and integrated entertainment. The 20-table poker room is a real Portland-area draw and the sportsbook is the closest retail wagering option for most of the metro. The trade-off is the absence of an on-site hotel, which keeps it a day-trip destination for visitors not staying in nearby Ridgefield or Vancouver.
Location and Regulation
The casino sits at 1 Cowlitz Way (GPS 45.853, -122.707), an exit straight off I-5 about 25 minutes north of downtown Portland and 15 minutes north of Vancouver, Washington. The Cowlitz Indian Tribe operates the property under a compact with the State of Washington, with the Washington State Gambling Commission as the regulator of record. Sportsbook activity is legal at tribal casinos under Washington’s retail-only framework.

ilani Casino Resort at a glance
Strengths
6- 2,500 slot machines and 75 table games (largest single-floor pit in the Pacific Northwest)
- 20-table poker room, the regional Portland-area destination for live cash and tournaments
- Retail sportsbook on the gaming floor
- Open 24/7 since 2017 under the Cowlitz Indian Tribe
- Steakhouse, marketplace, ballroom concerts, and meeting space
- Easy I-5 access from Portland metro and southwest Washington
Watch-outs
3- No on-site hotel; overnight stays require Ridgefield or Vancouver lodging
- No statewide mobile sportsbook in Washington
- Big-event nights crowd the dining and parking layers
The only real poker option for the Portland metro
Drive up I-5 takes 25 minutes from my place in north Portland. The 20-table room runs 1/3 and 2/5 No Limit every night and there is an evening tournament on the calendar most weekends. Sportsbook is on the way to the poker room, which is a hazard for the bankroll. Pit is the biggest I've played at outside Vegas. No hotel is the only real gap and you can grab a room in Ridgefield for half the price.
