Canterbury Park is the Twin Cities’ premier horse racing venue in Shakopee, Minnesota, operated by Canterbury Park Holding Corporation. Founded in 1985, Canterbury Park offers seasonal live Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing (approximately May through September), year-round simulcasting, and a card club — including 3 Card Poker, EZ Baccarat, Free Bet Blackjack, Pai Gow Poker, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em — operating 24/7. On-site amenities include a bar, restaurant, RV parking, shops, and self-parking. The minimum age is 18, regulated by the Minnesota Racing Commission. Canterbury Park is approximately 25 miles southwest of Minneapolis in Shakopee (Scott County) — in the same southwestern Twin Cities area as Mystic Lake Casino Hotel and Little Six Casino. The card club operates under a separate Minnesota Racing Commission card club license, distinct from tribal gaming compacts. Canterbury Park is the only pari-mutuel horse racing facility in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area.
