Poker Room

Lucky Chances Casino’s 29-table poker room spreads 7 Card Stud, Limit Hold’em, No Limit Texas Hold’em, and Omaha Hi-Lo.

7 Card Stud is the notable inclusion. Stud poker has largely been displaced by Texas Hold’em at California card rooms over the past two decades — most rooms in the Bay Area run Hold’em and Omaha exclusively, with mixed-game rotation being the primary vehicle for Stud play. A consistent 7 Card Stud spread at a dedicated card room is a genuine differentiator in San Mateo County.

Omaha Hi-Lo (8-or-better) is the split-pot Omaha variant requiring a qualifying low hand. Its presence alongside 7 Card Stud positions Lucky Chances as a destination for mixed-game and non-Hold’em players who have few Bay Area options outside the major San Jose rooms to the south.

Twenty-nine tables is a mid-scale poker room — large enough to spread multiple games simultaneously around the clock, but smaller than the flagship South Bay rooms that run 50-plus tables.

Table Games

Lucky Chances Casino spreads 31 table game positions including 3 Card Poker, Baccarat, Blackjack, Double Hand Poker, EZ Baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em.

EZ Baccarat is the dominant baccarat format in California gaming: rather than charging a 5% commission on winning banker bets, the house removes the commission entirely and pushes on a three-card banker-total of seven. Double Hand Poker is a two-hand poker format in which players receive a larger hand and must arrange it into two separate poker hands — similar to the Pai Gow Poker structure — and is common at Bay Area card rooms.

Thirty-one table game positions is a reasonable complement to the 29-table poker operation, giving the room a balanced floor split between poker and pit play.

One of the few rooms in the Bay still spreading Stud

I drive up from San Mateo specifically for the 7 Card Stud game. Most rooms have dropped it completely, so having a reliable Stud spread this close to San Francisco is genuinely useful. The Omaha Hi-Lo action was solid on my last visit too. Floor is well-run, 24/7 without issue. Doesn't have the amenity footprint of the big San Jose rooms but it doesn't need to — the poker product stands on its own.

Editor note

The Bay Area's most accessible Stud game north of San Jose

Lucky Chances Casino's 7 Card Stud spread fills a real gap in the Bay Area card room market. Most Peninsula and South Bay rooms have eliminated Stud in favor of Hold'em-only or Hold'em-plus-Omaha lineups; a consistent Stud game at Colma's Hillside Boulevard address gives mixed-game and Stud-focused players a practical northern stopping point. The Omaha Hi-Lo complement rounds out a non-Hold'em menu that's genuinely unusual for this part of California. Our data for this property is limited, so contact the casino directly before visiting.
